Meet the Artist

I have long been fascinated with the expressions of people and pets. I am a confirmed people/animal watcher so it is natural for me to want to create their portraits. It is an exciting adventure to see the subject start to take form and progress to the point where I place the finishing touches It is with a tremendous amount of satisfaction that I turn over these art pieces to those who have commissioned them. People want reminders or memorials of their loved ones – whether a special person or a best friend pet and I am privileged to be able to do this for them.

It is my delight and passion to create pastel portraits and florals. Flowers spell beauty for me. Nature has provided such a variety of flowers and colors that I can give vent to my passion for color as well as beauty. When I have completed a floral piece and hung it, it makes me happy every time I see it.

Although I work in pastels now, I started with oils on canvas. I then worked with graphite and felt tip pen in black and white, and later colored pencils. While I learned a lot with these mediums, I find with the pastels that I can build up layers, giving depth and further interest to my work. My style is realistic; as the person, animal or flower appears to me.
